My name is Deanna. This is my husband David and our daughter Brynja (Bryn-yah). David and I met while living in British Columbia in 2017. We spent 3 years travelling, hiking, canoeing, snowboarding in BC before we moved back to Ontario in 2020, where we are both from. David grew up in Ingersoll and I grew up in the east end of London, where we live now.
David is a journeymen cabinet maker by trade. He loves carving wood and is overall just very artistic. I went to school for photography at Fanshawe, and have been a barista since 2010.
Camp Coffee Company started as an idea for mixing together coffee and the outdoors. We are huge coffee lovers and travelled to a lot of different cafes over the years, as many do. Our favourite coffee shop at the time was Mount Currie Coffee Company based in Pemberton, BC, just north of Whistler. We lived in the Vancouver area, so that was over a 2 hour drive away. We really couldn’t find many cafes around us who mixed together coffee and the outdoors. So we wanted to create that.
In 2020, we launched Camp Coffee Company on instagram. Mostly, to steal the name on instagram before anyone else, but also as an outlet for our camp photography that we were taking. We had ideas for creating a cafe in London for when we moved back. But we really didn’t know what that was going to look like.
In 2022, I was pregnant with Brynja and really losing my passion for work. I was ready for Camp Coffee Company! During my maternity leave, I decided I was going to work on launching Camp Coffee Company. I had heard about mobile espresso carts in the states but hadn’t really seen any in Canada. It seemed like the most affordable way to launch Camp Coffee. I really only had my savings and some family support.
So, I started gathering all the equipment for the cart. Espresso machine, water pump, grinder etc. etc. And David started drawing up ideas for the cart build. I worked on getting familiar with my new gear in the garage while David started building the cart. And after a few short weeks, I booked my first market. July 9th 2023 at the Stratford Farmers Market.
Creating a new business while starting a family isn’t easy. It’s been so incredibly challenging and really more than I had anticipate. But holy guacamole! So rewarding. Getting to travel around with my espresso cart, making high quality espresso drinks and getting to know so many awesome people has been incredible! Every year we are growing substantially over the last, so who knows where we will go.
Our goals for 2025 is building a coffee camper, which is already underway! And to be in more places at once. So, make sure you follow us on Instagram and/or Facebook to follow along the adventure!
Thank you to everyone for your support and letting me live a dream! You rock!
